Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you all had a lovely break and are ready for an exciting Summer Term in Reception. We would like to take this opportunity to share our class routines and expectations with you to help ensure a happy, safe and successful term for all children.
Our Topic This Term
This term our topic will be Superheroes. We will be exploring what makes a superhero, including kindness, bravery, teamwork and helping others. Through stories, role play and creative activities, the children will be encouraged to see themselves as everyday superheroes and build confidence, resilience and a positive attitude to learning. We will even get to meet some REAL life superheroes and have a SUPERHERO Day at the end of term.
PE Lessons
Our PE lesson will take place every Wednesday to avoid clashing with KS2 in our outdoor spaces. Please ensure children have their PE kits in school, including appropriate footwear for outdoor team games. This helps us to make the most of our outdoor spaces and ensures lessons can run smoothly.
Forest School
We are pleased to let you know that Forest School will be restarting on Thursday 23rd. On this day, children should come to school wearing appropriate outdoor clothing, including long sleeves and long trousers to help protect their skin. Please also consider the weather and provide suncream and sunhat, children will continue to wear their school wellies. Forest School is a fantastic opportunity for learning and exploration, and we appreciate your support in preparing the children.
Show and Tell – Fridays
Fridays will be our Show and Tell day. We encourage children to share something meaningful to them, but we kindly ask parents to be mindful of what is brought into school.
Reading Expectations
As we begin the Summer Term, we will be encouraging children to build their reading stamina by completing one whole book each day to be read at school and at home. This will help develop their confidence, comprehension and enjoyment of reading.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Working together helps us create a positive and nurturing learning environment for the children. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to myself or a member of the team. Here comes the summer, woo!
Kind regards,
Mrs Parker and The Reception Team
