Happy, Aspirational and Ready for Life

Spring

Today, Wrens celebrated Holi, the festival of colours! The children were full of excitement as they explored the bright and joyful traditions of this special day.

The fun began with making colourful fruit skewers. We threaded juicy pieces of strawberries, melon, papaya, kiwi, blueberries and grapes onto sticks, creating edible rainbows that were almost too pretty to eat! Bright colours are used during Holi to celebrate spring, express joy and happiness, symbolise the victory of good over evil, bring people together, and encourage creativity and self-expression.

Next, the classroom echoed with traditional Holi music, and Wrens joined in dancing to the lively beats. They moved in circles, waved their hands, and enjoyed the energy and joy of the festival.

Inside, the children also tried creating Rangoli patterns , first we dyed the rice creating lots of bright colours to choose and used the rice to copy traditional patterns. They made bright designs of flowers, shapes, and patterns, exploring symmetry and colour combinations welcoming good luck and protection from negative energy.

Finally, the excitement reached its peak with colour throwing outside! The children gently tossed safe, washable powders at each other, filling the Wrens garden with laughter and a rainbow of colours.

By the end of the day, everyone was feeling full of happy

iness and ready for spring, with colourful hands, smiling faces, and full hearts. It was a day of laughter, creativity, and learning about a beautiful festival from another culture.
