Music

Robins looked at the parts of a five piece drum kit and listened to the sounds each drums made. We used our mouths to imitate the sounds of drums, a percussion instrument. We watched Lee perform beatboxing and put the drum sounds into a sequence to create simple beatboxing patterns.

English

Robins investigated different sets of instructions to find the features of instructions. Once we found the key features we applied this to instructions we need to write for someone wanting to make their own explorer bag.

Computing: Robins edited a PDF document to complete their explorer bag design brief

DT - Textiles

Robins expertly using a sewing machine, pins, scissors and needles to get to work making their explorer bags! They made the main body of the bag, a strap and a long handle to keep their hands free to hold things, climb and much more while they go and have their own adventures! I’m so proud of their determination and effort to make their bags, there were so tricky parts to make but perseverance shone through, well done explorers!

PE

As Robins have been discussing attacking and defending skills in sports Miss Jones has helped Robins to put these skills to the text in some exciting games of Tag Rugby! Robins had great fun and had to use dodging, change of directions, change of speed and team work skills to support them in their games.

Maths: Describing Turns

Visit from Roman Parker who made new discoveries like the explorers we are learning about.

History

Who will we discover? Robins explored the wild area and found some explorers! When we came back to class we discussed the famous explorers and learning about the discoveries they made.

The story of Ibrahim (pbuh)

Robins engaged with the story of Ibrahim (pbuh) and Muslims belief in the importance of worshipping the one true God.

Collecting data and recording in a tally. Robins practise skills to make Tallies and pictograms. We discussed favourite pets, favourite colour and favourite fruit. After demonstrating how voting for favourite things works we talked about how this shows democracy and is the way the government makes decisions in our country.

Robins enjoyed using Microsoft Word to type up their persuasive letters ready to send to their chosen readers.

Robins started the term off with some exciting phonics activities. Using their decoding, blending, segmenting and reading skills effectively in different contexts.
