This term in PE we are learning the skills needed to play cricket and rounders successfully. We have started by learning key batting and receiving skills, including how to hold a bat, how to position our body and we have recapped on the catching skills needed to be a good fielder.
Year One continue to demonstrate excellent practical application of our maths topics. As we move into a unit on fractions, they have been showing how to find 'equal groups' with different resources. They also demonstrated excellent team work and communication skills when working with their learning partners.
GEOGRAPHY - We have been working hard on our 'Map Makers' unit of work this term. We have been outside to explore our local area to identify the local landmarks. We consider what features we would put on a map and which we may not. Back in the classroom, the children have be investigating a variety of types of map including aerial and OS. Lots of different maps have been created.
Forest School- It has been wonderful to be back to the site this term, to see it continue to change. The children have been engaged in a mixture of child and adult led activities, and have very much enjoyed the time in nature at our fantastic provision.
Art - as part of our work based on the whole school text, 'The Tin Forest' by Helen Ward and illustrated by Wayne Anderson, we are making a collaborative forest relief piece. We all added our own elements to create a fantastic forest image. Then we added a layer of paper mache to add strength to our work. Then we plan to add paint to add the final details.
