Welcome Back to the Spring Term!
Dear Parents,
We hope you had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed time with loved ones. We’re thrilled to welcome the children back for an exciting Spring term full of learning and discovery!
Mrs Boyle will be teaching Monday and Tuesday, with Mrs Seward Wednesday to Friday. Mrs Boyle will be in school and available Monday to Thursday. We’re lucky to continue to have the fantastic support of Mrs Butler and Mr Walker—what a team!
The whole school text will be The River by Tom Percival. This beautifully illustrated story explores emotions through the changing moods of a river. It’s a gentle, powerful way to help children understand feelings and resilience.
Eagle’s topic this term is Japan—a country rich in culture, history, and innovation. We’ll explore its traditions, geography, and daily life, from ancient temples to modern technology.
PE will continue on Tuesday afternoons with Charlie. Please ensure PE kits are in school for the whole week, with long hair tied back and earrings removed or covered on PE days.
Forest School will resume later this term—look out for an email with details.
Reading and spelling records should come to school daily. Spellings go home on Mondays and are practiced daily. Children who read four or more times a week will be entered into our Friday and end of term draw for the chance to win prizes. Reading with an adult remains essential for fluency, expression, and comprehension.
We’ll also keep times tables sharp with daily TT Rockstars practice. For Year 6, SATs preparation will begin gently this term. We’ll hold a parent meeting soon to share how you can support your child—date to follow. Homework for Year 6 will go home Fridays and will be need to be returned to school by the following Thursday for marking.
As always, our doors are open—please come and chat if you have any questions or concerns. We’re here to support you and your child every step of the way.
We’re ready for a fantastic term ahead and can’t wait to see the children back in class.
Warmest wishes,
Mrs Boyle, Mrs Seward, Mrs Butler & Mr Walker
