WELCOME BACK LETTER
Friday 5th September 2025
Dear Parents,
We hope you had a wonderful summer break and that your family is feeling refreshed and ready for the new term. It's been lovely to see the children settle back into the school routine so quickly this week.
We are pleased to inform you that the Eagles team will remain the same as last year, with Mrs. Boyle leading the class from Monday to Wednesday, and Mrs. Seward taking over on Thursday and Friday. Mrs. Butler and Mr. Walker will continue to provide support throughout the week, ensuring a consistent and nurturing environment for your child.
This term, we are excited to be exploring the topic World War II. We have attached a topic web for your reference, and we’re sure this will provide an engaging and thought-provoking learning experience for the children as we look into the history, impact, and people of this significant period.
We’re also starting the term with a whole-school book titled The Koala Who Could by Rachel Bright, illustrated by Jim Field. This heartwarming story about self-confidence and embracing change will be the perfect introduction for classroom discussions, allowing children to reflect on their own feelings and experiences.
Promoting reading for pleasure remains a key focus here at Suckley. The children will have access to a variety of books to enjoy throughout the week; we always encourage them to have a book on hand that they are excited to read. This year, the Golden Ticket system will operate slightly differently. When children have completed two sides of their reading record and this has been signed by an adult (either in school, or at home), they will receive a small prize presented to them in assembly on a Friday and also be entered into the half termly raffle.
The children will practice new spellings each week in school, and for home-practice, all spellings for the year have already been set on Spelling Shed and will change weekly. By the end of the year, all necessary spellings will have been covered, ensuring a comprehensive approach to your child’s spelling development.
We are very happy to be welcoming back Charlie for our PE sessions, which will take place every Tuesday afternoon. Please make sure your child’s full PE kit is in school every day, and that any children with long hair have it tied back for safety.
Forest School sessions will continue on Wednesday afternoons. For these outdoor adventures, children should come to school in long sleeves and trousers, bring their waterproofs from home and have their wellies in school and ready to go.
Remember, we operate an open-door policy, so please feel free to approach us if you ever have any questions or concerns. We are here to support both you and your child throughout the year.
We are looking forward to another fun-filled and exciting term with your children. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Warmest wishes,
The Eagles Team
