Summer Term
Dear Wrens’ parents/carers,
Welcome back to school. We hope you have had an enjoyable Easter. The children have settled back into school and our learning routines very easily.
This term our class theme is ‘What shall we grow’. We will be visiting a local farm and planting lots of seeds, leading to lots of fun independent writing opportunities! Hopefully we will be able to grow enough ‘crops’ for a special shared snack at the end of term!
As a reminder, please read with your child as regularly as possible and ensure they have their reading book, blending book and reading record in school every day so we can record the reading completed at school. To get the Early Learning Goal in reading, children need to read simple sentences with fluency and demonstrate understanding of what they have read. We check the reading records daily, so they are also a great way to get any non-urgent notes or messages to us if you need to.
Forest school will restart this term. Please ensure your child is wearing old/ outdoor clothes that have long sleeves and trousers bottoms. PE will continue to be on a Wednesday.
Some final requests:
- Please leave personal toys at home to prevent them being lost or broken at playtime.
- Please continue to provide a drinks bottle – we will support the children to refill them as the weather becomes warmer.
- As the weather gets warmer and the sun stronger, please apply sun cream to your child before school. It would also be helpful if you would send a named bottle of sun cream and a hat to be kept in school for the rest of the year. This means we can help the children top up sun cream for afternoon sessions if we are learning outside.
- We are having a focus on healthy eating and encouraging the children to have healthy snacks. Please support this by providing healthy snack options. Children always have access to fresh fruit daily.
- Please provide a backpack or school bag to enable your child to independently carry their items to and from school.

W/C 17.04.23 - Welcome to 'Wonderville'!
We have been reading 'It Fell from the Sky' by the Fan Brothers as part of our whole school project this week. The children created these amazing versions of 'Wonderville' using items found in our garden and classroom. They also created fabulous signs and tickets inviting people to come and view our creations.
