Suckley School

Happy, Aspirational and Ready for Life

Summer Term

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter break and are ready for our final term! This term we welcome Miss Jarvis, a student trainee from University of Worcester, who will support us in Eagles.

This term we are exploring Mexico and the Mayans. Our key text (Holes by Louis Sachar) focuses on the events in Green Lake and the significance of America's history of slavery and racism. We will use this historical context to explore Mexico and the Mayan civilization, making contrasts with contemporary developments in Britain, discover how the Mayans traded and be inspired by Mayan Art. Please see our topic web attached for more information.

Continued reminders:

  • Reading: Children must have their reading record with them in school each day so that they can be filled in when we read with them. Every Monday, records will be checked and if children have read at least 4 times at home and this has been signed by a grown up, they will be rewarded with a golden ticket to be entered into the prize draw.
  • Spellings: Spellings are sent to the children's Spelling Shed accounts every Monday as well as printed in their spelling books. Please ensure your child practises their spellings independently at home ready for their spelling test every Monday.
  • Forest School will commence again this half term. Please make sure you have wellies in school and wear long sleeves.
  • We will be swimming on Tuesdays. Please see further information on the website.

As always, please don't hesitate to contact myself or Mrs Butler if you have any queries.

SATS are over and we were rewarded with bacon sandwiches!

Tag rugby tournament

We had a fantastic day at Malvern tag rugby tournament on Friday 19th May. After the group stage, we made it into the top 4 teams which put us into the main draw. We finished 7th out of 26 teams in total. An amazing result!
