Autumn Term

The children have settled into school life exceptionally well. They have enjoyed exploring our classroom, the EYFS garden, the wider school grounds and our wonderful forest school site.

Over the first few weeks we have been focusing on communication and language skills by talking about our families, different occupations and how we have all changed since we were babies.

The following photos show a few of the exciting opportunities that the children have engaged with so far!

We have been learning rhymes and listening to stories. We have been lucky that the weather has been so nice and we have been able to do this outside.

The children have been very purposeful with their independent play. Lots of children have shown a preference for construction play, so they made a 'Bigfoot' house out of the den building kit! Water play, the mud kitchen and the bikes have also been very popular areas of the provision so far.

Investigating the EYFS garden.

The children drew their families, as we discussed familiar situations with the children. They worked incredibly hard making these fabulous drawings - which now all have pride of place on our display.

We have started our daily maths sessions - looking at matching and sorting objects and finding pairs. The children were fabulous at considering the different properties of the objects and were using shape, size, number of holes and colours as the criteria for sorting the pictures.

Wrens enjoyed using the music station in our outside provision. We have been trying to tap out a tune together !

We were so excited to see Mr. and Mrs. Roper's tractor as a start to our Harvest celebrations. The children were very interested in the tractor and asked lots of questions about the mechanics!

Celebrations and Festivals.

We investigate various celebrations and festivals throughout our time in reception class. We have learnt about The Gunpowder Plot and Armistace Day this term. The children developed some art and craft skills to create some lovely artwork and have started developing their written language to attempt simple sentences.

Children in Need

We went on a 'walk and talk' to support the charitable work of Children in Need. We embraced the idea of being outside and chatting to friends as a way to support well being and mental health. After our lovely walk we returned to school and discovered that Pudsey had come to school to meet us all.  What a fabulous morning.

The Gingerbread Man

We have been looking at the book the Gingerbread Man this week as our literacy focus. We received a video showing the gingerbread men in our classroom.... and a note asking us for help in making them some new friends. We quickly got baking and made lots of gingerbread people!

Nativity 2022

The EYFS and KS1 children performed the nativity this week. We were very proud of all the children singing and performing to the very best of their ability. Well done everyone.
