Exciting News: OPEN FARM SUNDAY 10th June

OPEN FARM SUNDAY PRESS RELEASE

Following the success of last year’s event, Stocks Farm, Suckley are delighted to be supporting LEAF Open Farm Sunday again this year. Please come and join us on SUNDAY 10th JUNE 2018 from 11am to 2pm. Entry is free with a voluntary donation to Suckley School for playground equipment and there will also be an opportunity to purchase food and drinks while here.

Stocks Farm is a 200-year-old family owned and run hop and apple farm on the glorious Herefordshire/Worcestershire border. It has been in the Capper family for more than half a century, and is proud to be growing quality British Hops and Apples in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Hops and apples are a huge part of the local history. We welcome visitors each year to experience first hand what will be harvested for breweries, home brewers, cider makers and supermarkets throughout the UK and worldwide. Stocks Farm owners, Richard & Ali Capper, will share their knowledge, give you a tour of the internationally famous BRUFF hop picking machine and kiln, explain the growing season of modern hop farming and give you a tour of the eating and cider apple orchards. The orchard tour will necessitate some walking - between half a mile and a mile on even ground. Please ensure you have appropriate footwear.

Gates open at 11am prompt for an introduction and then tours commence.

Apple Orchard Walks: 11:15 – 12:30 & 12:45 – 2pm

Hop Growing: 11:15 – 12:00; 12:15 – 1pm & 1:15 – 2pm

Hop Picking Barn & Kiln: 11:15 – 12:00; 12:15 – 1pm; 1:15 – 2pm

What else is on offer?

  1. Hop Shed, formally know as The Unity Brew House, is the first brewery to be situated on a hop farm in the UK. Owners, husband and wife team, Hani and Sarah Saleh supply their delicious selection of beers using the finest British ingredients to local pubs, shops and selected Co-Op stores.

The Hop Shed brewery and Tap Room are opening between 11am – 3pm on Sunday 10th June with a licence to sell beer direct, so visitors can enjoy a pint on the day or buy some supplies to take home.

There will also be an opportunity to purchase delicious home grown and pressed apple juice and homemade cakes, kindly donated by the parents of Suckley School, and there will be various children’s activities to take part in during the day.

All this walking is hungry work, so there will be an opportunity to purchase a ‘Free Range’ Pig Roast lunch, provided by Hilltop Farm, Cotheridge served between 11am – 3pm.

Directions: On the day please follow satnav to WR6 5EQ or follow the parking signs. Please allow time for parking as we start promptly at 11am.
