We’ve got a new friend...Eddie the Elf delivered a wonderful Christmas story, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey, for us to share and he even decorated our classroom! This morning we found him practicing his chunking with our maths frog and the wise old elephant!
This terms theme is Weslandia! We will use the gloriously illustrated celebration of individualism from an award-winning author.
Wesley’s an outcast from the civilization around him – he’s not into pizza or football or haircuts. But during the summer holidays, he has a brilliant idea: he’ll found a civilization of his own – in the back garden! From this seed a whole world grows and blooms – the extraordinary, imaginative world of Weslandia! Wesley creates his own food, clothing, shelter, games, language even, and gradually wins over the other children. We are going to follow Wes's lead and create our own civilizations! Look at our topic web to see how we have woven the curriculum into our exciting new theme!
This week, we celebrate Diwali! We learned all about the story of Rama and Sita, and made Diva lamps to light their way home and to celebrate good triumphing over evil! We then learned a Bollywood dance to perform to our parents- we were particularly good at 'screwing in the lightbulb' and shaking those hips to jingle our bells!
Experimenting with mixing paint.
A lovely calm afternoon of yoga in the Woodpeckers...a great way to start the weekend!
